Oscillation is the third in a series of 3D printed dresses designed in collaboration with threeAsfour and Stratasys, exploring multimaterial printing in the production of couture. Oscillation expresses a web of energy lines that flow around the body, proportioned according to harmonic ratios. Two distinct nodal patterns, derived from frequencies of the Solfeggio scale, radiate across this network to enfold the figure. The piece presents the human body as a vibrational medium, and the garment as a frequency in resonance with this medium. The asymmetry of the dress represents a duality between the two nodal patterns. From one perspective, they appear distinct and in harmony with one another, but as they gradate across the body they become indistinguishable in size and color. The textural surface strives to be multidimensional, a screenshot of a dynamic, oscillating waveform. A collaboration with threeAsfour and Stratasys.
